My love for yoga started at the time of opening Divya, one of the first yoga studio in Croatia. In order to make some changes in my life, I have participated in the 40-days Wake up yoga program, led by Sandra Petra Pintarić, who became my first yoga teacher and great inspiration.
Approximately in the same time, not always happiest life circumstances put me in front of no easy choices, and from today's perspective, I know that by choosing yoga, I have choose myself, my freedom, my health and my well-being. I am very happy because of that.
Inspired and motivated by the first results and sense of relief, achieved by yoga practice, I attended the one year RYT 200 teacher training program in Divya, as well as advanced TT program RYT 500. My personal development continues through constant education on many yoga retreats and workshops with my teachers Sandra Petra Pintarić and Petra Carmichael, as well as with some international yoga guest-teachers.
I found my yoga inspiration in more slow, quiet and restorative style of yoga. Restorative yoga is a bit different than other styles. You receive the greatest benefits from that practice not through forcing yourself into a pose, but by releasing and surrendering into it. We do not go beyond our limitations. Based on rule of Ahimsa (nonviolence/non-injury), restorative yoga help us to be kind to yourself, but on the other hand strong enough to be able to develop healthy and positive life habits.
There are many benefits of restorative yoga, but I will mention just a few, for me more important ones. First of all, restorative yoga dramatically reduces stress by calming the mind, deepening our breath and relaxing our body. Helps us to develop and increase body awareness by drawing attention inward and away from external events and situations. Accepting life as it is, and letting go of negative thoughts, makes our character strong. But most importantly, it allows us to cuddle and take care of ourselves. We all know that if we won't take care of ourselves, nobody else will.
I can say for myself that yoga helped me to find my inner peace, put my life in order and become more satisfied. Through yoga I met such a beautiful people and had a great moments which made my life much happier, peaceful and fulfilling.
