23/9, Saturday - STRESS, A CHOICE NOT A NECESSITY

We live in highly demanding times, where stressful situations arise constantly. When stress originates in the nervous system, the body ages, the muscles become tense and the work of all the bodily systems (respiratory, digestive, endocrine, etc.) is compromised.
In this workshop, you will learn how not to get stressed, and if you sometimes do, how to release that stress (through asana and pranayama practice) from the physical body in the most effective way. It is a life-changing work, don’t miss out!
24/9, Sunday – BACKBENDS, SACRUM AND LOWER BACK

The sacroiliac joint supports the weight of the entire spine and the upper body. If the yoga practice, walking and standing are misaligned, the SI joint can be in constant, nagging pain. The lower back originates from the sacrum and it depends on its alignment for stability and groundedness.
In this workshop we will learn about the anatomy of the sacrum and the lumbar spine and how to practice safely for the years to come.
With that knowledge we will explore the backbends. Backbends are one of the key groups of postures in yoga. On a physical level, they bring the spine into the body; whilst on a psychological level, that movement of the spine from back to front symbolises movement from the past to the present.
After this workshop you will be fully equipped for a safe practice of any backbend, be it a simple one or something scary, such as Kapotasana (pigeon pose).

About Petra:
Croatian-born, Petra Brajdic-Mitidieri, has been practising yoga since 1996 and has been teaching yoga in London since 2000. Over the years she has studied Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga, the two styles on which she bases her teaching. Petra is also a yoga therapist specialising in musculo-skeletal problems (bulging discs, scoliosis, knee injuries, etc.) as well as diseases of the organic system (asthma, bronchitis, diabetes, acid reflux, constipation, IBS, high blood pressure, low blood pressure). Petra also holds a Ph.D. degree from Imperial College, London in mechanical engineering which is often reflected in her teaching. |
